An industrial belt tension tester capable of measuring force and services belts to three inches in width, and has a force range of 0 - 66 pounds (0 - 30 Kilograms.), and belt tension range of 0 - 1,056 pounds (0 - 480 Kilograms.).
Recommended for use on 3V-3VX belts of six strands; 5V-5VX belts of two and three strands; A & E belts with two and three strands; and is fully applicable for C belts with two strands.
Note : can service multiple single stranded belt drives as well as banded belts.
Note : can service multiple single stranded belt drives as well as banded belts.
Operation :
Uses the universally accepted method of detemining belt tension by depressing the belt 1/64 of an inch per inch of span. This results in an "F" over "T" ratio of 1:16. The maximum tension capability of this instrument, therefore, is sixteen times 66, or 1056 pounds.
1. Measure the length of span between sheave tangent points.
2. Set the two large O-rings at the correct point on the "Inches of span length " scale(on "50" if it is a fifty inch span) and set the two small O-rings down against the instrument's flange.
3.Depress the instrument downward at the center of the span until the large O-ring at the base of the instrument is in line with the tangent point of the drive.(This may be accomplished with a straight-edge, or a neighboring belt in a multiple belt drive.)
4. Read the number of pounds of force indicated by the small O-rings on the plunger rod and then multiply by sixteen to determine belt tension.
5. Note: Many belt manufaturers will specify the recommended plunger reading (in lb.or Kg) for a specific application. In such cases, always follow the belt manufacturers' recommendation.
